It’s the beginning of a new year
and a time when some people focus on new resolutions. They usually involve what they perceive as
positive changes they desire in their life, problems they wish to solve, “bad”
habits to break, or a statement of new goals they hope to attain. To support
the resolutions, it can be helpful to use affirmations that are focused on for
just a few minutes at a time daily or weekly throughout the period involved,
usually for the coming year.

Within your own subjective reality are traces of all those
roads not taken and all those abilities you have not used.
You may think of yourself as primarily a parent, or mainly
in terms of your job or profession.
As much as possible for now, for this
exercise, forget the normal familiar light in which you see yourself, and
consider your entire identity as you do the following exercise.
Desired New Beliefs
“Many people assign great power
to a hypnotist, yet whenever you have the undivided attention of another; you
act as a hypnotist to a large degree.
Whenever you have yourownundivided attention you act as a
hypnotist and subject simultaneously. You give yourselves post-hypnotic
suggestions all the time, particularly when you project present conditions into
the future. Suggestions that you give yourselves constantly operate overall as
beliefs that are reflected in your experience.

The following exercise will show you how
you can utilize natural hypnosis in your daily life to better your
experience. At the end of this summary you will find a separate worksheet that you can copy and work with if you are serious about making positive changes.

The Power of Suggestion: An Aspect of Natural Hypnosis
Repeated suggestion, whether from
outside sources or from your own conscious mind asself suggestionwill have a hypnotic effect on your subconscious
mind and will establish neurological patterns within the body itself.
These conditions once created can be either
impeding or empowering depending upon the nature of the suggestion. We must
realize that even repeated subtle suggestions can play a powerful role in our
lives. Only through increased awareness and monitoring our thoughts and verbal
expressions can we begin to understand this phenomenon.
